We all need some unreservedly good news in these challenging times and I can’t say enough good things about this non-profit organization that is based in my hometown of Sebastopol, California.

CERES Community Project provides organic meals for the critically ill while empowering teens by teaching them cooking and gardening skills all in the context of community outreach and caring for others.

  • Ceres has delivered over 665,000 meals
  • Helped over 3,700 families
  • And trained over 2,300 teen chefs

Ceres operates three kitchens and two organic production gardens in the S. F. Bay Area. They have also taught 13 other communities to replicate their model and are now in Denmark.

I have seen the benefits of their services directly. When my longtime creative collaborator Bethany Argisle broke her foot quite seriously a year ago and was unable to walk or drive for months, Ceres delivered delicious organic meals to her. It made a huge difference in her recovery and improved her morale.

As an integrative physician I have always thought of Food as Medicine and Ceres takes that to a whole new level. So, I am very happy to be working with this wonderful group.

On Feb. 26th I will be sharing some insights about Food as Medicine and Seasonal Eating. We will also prepare:

Spring Green Salad with Sprouts (living food)

Mint Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

Spring Miso Soup with greens, Snow Peas, Carrots and Nori

This program is sponsored by The Dhyana Center, Jaiyen Spa, Infusions Tea House, SoCoHA (Sonoma County Healing Academy), Osmosis, Coffee Catz and Theta Wave Float Spa.
