The concept of the People's Doctor is meaningful for me because I truly believe that empowering people to take their health into their own hands is a key part of my role as a doctor – the origin of the word being the Latin docere – meaning to teach.

One of my key health maxims is – “Lifestyle First, Natural Therapies next, Drugs or Surgery last.” I have promoted and practiced this approach at my clinic – Preventive Medical Center of Marin (PMCM), also through many lectures and presentations and in my 11 published books on health and healing.

In concert with the local exposure that this article has given me, I will now be offering my services in Sebastopol on Friday mornings from 9-12. My office will be part of the newly formed Sonoma County Healing Academy (www.SoCoHA.com) and appointments can be made through my PMCM office in San Rafael by calling 415- 472-2343.

I look forward to working more closely with the community that has been my home for so many years.
